Speaker Wall Mounts

In order to set off your entire home theater setup you will probably want to also get some speaker wall mounts so at least your satellite speakers will be up off of the ground or furniture.  Wall mounting is really almost a requirement for surround sound speakers if you are to get the full benefit from this stereo feature.  If your speakers aren’t wall mounted behind and/or to the side as well as above your listening position, the effect will not be a good as it could be if they were positioned properly.

The good thing about a quality set of speaker wall mounts is that they will allow you all of the versatility in positioning that you could need.  Most simply screw into the wall or even the ceiling wherever you decide that they are needed.  This gives you more freedom in setting up your home theater system at home since you won’t be worrying about where you can “sit” the speakers.  Satellite speaker units are generally not meant to be put on the floor, and unless you have a bookshelf there really isn’t a better alternative than the wall mount.

One thing that you will want to look for in your speaker wall mounts is some bit of adjustability or otherwise the ability to swivel.  With the exception of certain types of wall mounted speakers or in-wall speakers, the other types that you will be using benefit from this type of bracket.  Speaker brackets can also come in several different finishes to go along with the rooms decor.  The most common color, of course, would be black, but you can often get white, silver, or even a paintable finish to match whatever color is on the walls.

Just like anything else, though, think more about quality and less about price for your speaker wall mounts.  A good set of speaker brackets will not cost much more than the cheap ones, and the ease of mounting them along with the durability and attractiveness of the best brands is an asset to your home theater package.  In the event space is an issue, you may be using smaller speakers all around, and you can get a set of speaker mounts to attach your center and front channel speakers to the wall along with your television wall mount which will have your flat screen sitting on it.  This type of arrangement works very well.
